Over 50 thousands students appear for Meghalaya Board exams
Shillong, Mar 2 (UNI) As many as 51,997 students including 27,825 girls, appeared for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination conducted by Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE), which began today. The Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination will commence tomorrow Altogether 32,974 examinees will appear for the HSSLC examination (arts, science, commerce and vocational streams) this year. The SSLC examination will conclude on March 16, while the HSSLC on March 29. Out of them, 5,517 students are elementary school teachers (EST). They have passed the 10+2 examination, but failed to secure second division or 45 per cent aggregate marks. The Meghalaya government has given another chance to EST and pre-service teachers' education trainees - who are teaching in government-run, government-aided and private elementary schools and have been appointed prior to September 3, 2001 - to appear for the HSSLC exam this year. In the arts stream, there are 26,871 students, in the science stream 3,802 students, in the commerce stream 2,294 students and in the vocational stream seven students.
