Shillong, Mar 07 Three people were injured in a police firing after a mob went on rampage burning down the police station and vehicles in Meghalaya’s North Garo Hills District, police said today.
"Three persons were injured after a police team who were at a checkpoint in Kaldang area fired at a vehicle as the driver refused to halt at the checkpoint," state Director General of Police S B Singh said. Following the firing, he said an enraged mob burnt down the police station and vehicles at Resubelpara. "We are awaiting details of the incident," the police official said. Meanwhile, the injured were shifted to a private hospital in Guwahati, Assam. One of them is in a critical condition. Police have been conducting checking of vehicles following reports of movement of militants in the district.
