Mumbai : The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) edged higher today by 89.24 points to end positive at 29,421.40 on firm global cues.
Mumbai, Mar 24 (UNI) The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) edged higher today by 89.24 points to end positive at 29,421.40 on firm global cues. The Sensex went up by 18 points to 29,350.60 in early trade. It then climbed by 227 points to a day's high of 29,539.85, before closing at 29,421.40, up by 89.24 points as compared to its last close. The Nifty registered the day's high and low at 9,133.55 and 9,089.40 points respectively. The sectoral indices that rose were Finance, Bankex, Realty and Energy. Scrips of ICICI Bank, SBI, Gail India, ITC and Reliance Industries kept the market strong for another day today. The BSE Mid-Cap index edged down 0.03 per cent, underperforming the Sensex. The BSE Small-Cap index rose 0.35 pc, outperforming the Sensex. The market breadth turned negative from positive in late trade on the BSE, as 1,471 shares declined while 1,346 others rose and 219 were unchanged. The total turnover on BSE amounted to Rs 5,524.34 crore, compared with a turnover of Rs 6,477.76 crore registered during the previous trading session.
