Jaitley condoles deaths of jawans in Pulwama encounter
New Delhi [India], Aug 27: Union Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday condoled the death of army and police personnel killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district. "My thoughts and prayers are with the families of JandK police and CRPF personnel martyred in the #pulwama encounter.(sic)," he tweeted. Eight security personnel, including four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans and four policemen, were killed in the ongoing encounter between the security forces and fidayan terrorists in Pulwama district. In the massive gunfight, three terrorists were also gunned down. InspectorGeneral, Kashmir Munir Khan said, "Bodies of three terrorists were recovered on Saturday." The terrorists carried out a suicide attack on District Police Lines in south Kashmir's Pulwama. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti strongly condemned the killing of jawans.
