British Govt. must apologise for Jallianwala Bagh massacre: London Mayor Sadiq Khan

Amritsar (Punjab), Dec 07 : London Mayor Sadiq Khan, who was on a visit to Amritsar, on Wednesday asserted that the British Government should apologise for the Jallianwala Bagh shootings. "We all know the history here in 1919. I have seen the wall where women and children fled and eventually died. My view is British Government should apologise for Jallianwala Bagh shootings. It should apologise for errors done in the past", Khan asserted while speaking to the media. The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place on 13 April, 1919 when troops of the British Indian Army under the command of Colonel Reginald Dyer fired machine guns into a crowd of unarmed protesters, along with Baishakhi pilgrims, who had gathered at the Jallianwala Bagh. The London Mayor is currently on a visit to India.
