Morgan Freeman apologises after sexual misconduct claims

Washington D.C. [U.S.A.], May 25 (ANI): Hollywood star Morgan Freeman has issued an apology statement after finding himself amidst the sexual misconduct allegations made by as many as eight women. In the brief statement, the 80-year-old actor said, "Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected - that was never my intent", according to the Deadline. The God of 'Bruce Almighty' landed himself in the soup when CNN reported on his inappropriate behaviour towards the female members of his films' crew and backstage attendants for his film's promotional events. A female reporter from CNN also came forward to share her awkward experience during a press junket for 'Going in Style'. Parts of the whole ordeal were reportedly covered on the camera as well. Another female, a production assistant, alleged that Freeman harassed her for months during the filming of 'Going in Style' where he repeatedly touched her and tried to lift her skirt while asking if she's wearing any underwear. The story quoted another woman from 'Now You See Me' crew who claimed that the staff was particular about "not to wear any top that would show our breasts, not to wear anything that would show our bottoms". The CNN also talked to several other female colleagues of Freeman, many of whom claimed of 'strictly professional behaviour' by Freeman. With these allegations, Freeman has joined the bandwagon of well-known celebrity figures that have been accused of sexual misconduct. The names include Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Roman Polanski, James Franco, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Spacey, and Woody Allen. The allegations have made way to #MeToo campaign where women are coming out and speaking about their sexual harassment experiences.
