Gujarat: Passengers complain of chain pulling of trains in Maninagar Station

05  June 2018 , Ahmedabad : Passengers of long distance trains like Shanti Express , Okha Express, Puri Express and other super fast trains from Ahmedabad-Mumbai route are getting stopped by daily commuters in Maninagar. The daily commuters pull the chain and stop the super fast and express trains in Maninagar Station of Ahmedabad .

Maninagar is a popular halt for commuters living in the southern suburb of the city. The Railway Officials say that there is growing menace of commuters breaking the law and pulling chain to stop the trains in Maninagar.

Avinash Shukla , Passenger from Indore who boarded Shanti Express said that the commuters stop the Shanti Express train in Maninagar station which causes delay of the train.

Namrata Kumar , Passenger from Ujjain said that lot of people come to Ahmedabad for medical treatments. The trains get late due to chain pulling in various stations across the route which causes train to delay. The appointments with doctors get cancelled due to delay of trains.

Indian railways had incurred a loss of Rs 3,000 crore because trains ran late with the indiscriminate chain-pulling for no good reason.

Illegal chain pulling is a serious problem on Indian railways; where miscreants do so to make unscheduled stops near their destination, which delays trains. Penalties for misuse of this facility include a fine of Rs. 1,000 and/or imprisonment up to one year.
