Muslims prepare for prayer vigil at Shab E’ Qadr

The Shab-e-Qadr or Lailat-ul-Qadr, a night considered to be equal to praying for 1000 months, was observed tonight with the religious reverence across the State. The Muslims across Valley held night long prayers on the occasion. The night is observed on every 27th day of Ramadan. Notably, this is one of the holiest and most blessed nights for Muslims, which is likely to occur on one of the odd nights in the last 10 days of Ramadan and most likely to be the 27th of the Holy month. The Muslim Holy book, Quran, was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in this night. The night has special significance as it is better than one thousand years and the angels descend therein by the permission of Allah Almighty. Special arrangements were made for special prayers in Masjids and the shrines across the Valley to mark the holy night and seek divine blessings. The biggest congregational prayers were held at the historical Jamia Masjid Srinagar. The devotees attended religious gatherings to seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty and his blessings.
