Successful trial of diesel-run coach on heritage railway extension conducted in Shimla

Shimla (Himachal Pradesh), Jul 05 (ANI): The Indian Railways conducted a successful train run trial on heritage railway extension in Shimla on Wednesday. The successful trial of diesel-run coach covered a distance of 900 meters running between the Shimla Heritage Museum and Shimla railway station. This trial has been conducted after a period of nearly 20 years, with no trains running after 1999 on the track between Railway Heritage Museum and Shimla Heritage station. Officials said that, the trial with a diesel locomotive was conducted to check the operational physicality of the track. A joint report would be sent to the Divisional Office of the northern railway and after making it operational final decision to run a joy ride or any train in this heritage track would be taken by the divisional headquarters. The Kalka-Shimla railway line was declared UNESCO?s world heritage line in 2008 and quickly became a tourist attraction.
