YouTube bans dangerous pranks following spate of Bird Box challenge videos

YouTube has banned dangerous prank and challenge videos from its platform, following a spate of ‘Bird Box challenges’.

The YouTube site has updated its guidelines to explain exactly which kinds of pranks are no longer acceptable on the platform.

The Google-owned video sharing site YouTube said such material had “no place on YouTube”.

Some of the videos had attracted many millions of views. YouTube said it “worked to aggressively enforce our monetisation policies to eliminate the incentive for this abuse”.
